Katanagatari – 09

“The first match between the Shinou Issouh school and the blade-yielding Kyotouryuu was incredibly quiet and anti-climatic. Even so, the match was decided.”

Laxatives needed

Pretty much that sums up the main fight, but that was surely made up for by the rest of the episode, which was packed with a lot of goodies.

Youkai Togame

Firstly we saw Togame and Shichika’s first kiss, which is definitely a great leap forward in the couple’s development. What was also great were the pretty hilarious misunderstandings Togame had regarding Shichika and Issouh. Togame’s reactions were priceless. The musical timing in these comic moments was impeccable, and it was really fitting.

Feeling jumpy?

What was also awesome to see was Houhou, and his new arm. He is truly one f*cked up guy, picking up the most deviant of the Deviant Blades, and also attaching a former comrade’s limb onto his own body.

O noes...

Emonzaemon also proved to be pretty badass too. However, I felt kinda cheated seeing the way he won. That was too easy, and probably deliberately disappointing. I wonder if he’ll go on to betray Hitei-hime…

WTF. what. a. cheat.

Anyhoo only 3 blades left! Seriously cannot believe it’s been 9 months since this show started. That’s like a whole term of pregnancy!

Awesome chopstick skillz.

It was definitely a good ep out of all the other katanagatari eps (which are on the whole great). Maniwa Houhou’s arm is a bit weird….Can’t till next ep!
