Seitokai Yakuindomo – impressions so far

“This is NOT the right moment for ‘YAY!’!”

SYD teaching us it's fine to hit midgets

Hey, you know what, for me SYD has been one of the most amusing series this season. Its light-hearted crudeness is pretty fun to watch, combined with an array of quirky and over-the-top characters.

Androphobes - how convenient~

This is a show where boob jokes are considered fairly mild, as SYD’s jokes explore and involve some pretty outrageous things like rope play, S&M  and a bondage teddy bear. While the fast-paced humour could be said to be a little repetitive in some areas, I’d still consider SYD as one of the more entertaining series currently airing.

LOL this teacher is oh so very wrong.

The characters of SYD definitely form an integral part of the fun and jokes. While I’ve been annoyed by Arai Satomi’s Kuroko from Railgun, and her sarcastic 4th wall-breaking narrator in Ookami-san, she’s done a great job voicing Journalism Club leader Hata Ranko. Hata is hilarious, with all her photoshop and recontextualising skills.

......... international rope play?

There is also some evidence of chemistry bubbling among the characters, and more specifically around nice guy Tsuda. Well this IS a harem series. However it’s far from overdone. In fact, it remains to be seen whether a something more develops between Tsuda and Mitsuba (normal taekwondo girl) or Shino (perverted but otherwise flawless kaichou). I’m assuming nothing will, but at least it keeps the show interesting.

Oh Tsuda, making all the girls cry now?

All in all, SYD is a fun series that combines quick 4-koma jokes tainted by some very adult themes. If you’re looking for an epic yarn or major plot twists, go elsewhere, but definitely try out this series if you enjoyed Seitokai no Ichizon and B Gata H Kei.

That was such a random segment….I would have to agree with you. It’s quite an entertaining series, nothing too serious and it’s fun to watch.

What I’ve enjoyed about SYD is that while it talks dirty it’s managed to avoid large displays of pandering fanservice and remains suitably tongue in cheek about everything.
    It’s great fun.

    I didn’t like SYD. I don’t know why.

I think it’s one of those series which you either enjoy or really don’t like. It’s got no middle ground.
