Sengoku Basara 2 – first impressions

“YUKIMARA!!!” “OYAKATA-SAMA!!!” “YUKIMARA!!!” “OYAKATA-SAMA!!!” “YUKIMARA!!!” “OYAKATA-SAMA!!!”

Welcome to Sengoku period, where everyday's a fight

This has got to be one of the most over-the-top series this season. However, it’s well done, so the overall result isn’t something that’s totally ridiculous, but rather legendary in scale.

Man, I wish I could do that.

What’s really pleasing to listen to is the very snappy and almost hyperbolic dialogue the characters engage in. It’s crazy stuff, but it really suits the events on the screen. Sengoku Basara 2 is about MANLY men, and all things stupendously virile.

Virile except for this dude. He's a fag.

Animation is not too bad. Gone is the CGI that was used in the first season, which I thought was a shame, but others believed was a good thing. The background music is pretty good though and definitely suits the epicness of the duels and battles.

Red vs Blue

Sengoku Basara 2 was also pretty light on newcomers to the series. You really didn’t need to watch the first season, to understand what was happening in the second. Of course there was that name-shouting between Yukimara and the Tiger of Kai (which I always find rather funny), but even that was introduced naturally.

Sasuke and *Bewbies*

This season looks to improve on its predecessor, by maintaining this strong over-the-top craziness we expected from the first season, and keeping it awesome rather than ridiculous. If you enjoy great duels without the finesse, this show is for you.

OP: pretty much showed the overall concept: warring factions leaving their own little squabbles to face some gigantic (quite literally) huge-ass dude with some fat-crap army. Don’t really like the tune.

I reckon nothing really has changed from the first season and this season. Just replaced the baddies with some new baddies who aren’t so gothic/emo…

There are many things I am glad to see in this second season but Yukimura and Date shouting to each other is not one of them -_-
