K-On!! – impressions so far

Rejection - it's a harsh thing

You can't take the girl out of Mio.

K-On!! has somewhat amused me and bored me at the same time. While it does have some genuinely funny moments, episodes on the whole make me desiring more.

More leg shots...

Season 1 at least had some general direction. HTT was in its developing stage and we were being introduced to the tweaks and turns that make up our favourite moe band. However, there’s no real development so far in Season 2, resulting in a series that is even more like a generic slice-of-life series.

Errr wut?!

Must stop heat escaping brain...

That itself isn’t bad, but compared to other S-of-L series like Minami Ke and Lucky Star (yeah, that’s right, I said LUCKY STAR!!!11), K-On just feels lacklustre. Comedic moments are 95% composed of in-jokes we’ve seen time and again, and I’m craving for some truly new material.

It's like they're discovering the New World~

It hasn’t been all that boring. Episode 5 was an actually pretty nice watch, where we forgot about the 4 seniors in HTT, and focused on Azu-nyan, Ui and Jun. It gave these otherwise mostly supporting characters, some time in the spotlight, and that can only be a good thing, seeing that all interest in the old band members have really been sucked dry.

Fortunately watching K-On does not do this to my eyes

That being said, the in-jokes are still fun to watch, and I can always rely on K-On!! as a source mindless entertainment when my braenz are being eaten by zombies. The ‘special effects’ and sound effects have definitely improved from the first season and they do add a layer to the humour.

Live long and prosper~

I’ll still watch K-On!! for the lulz and the rewatchability factor (which, mind you, is great), but I can only handle so much. If this series is going to continue liek this for a total of 24 episodes, the little heart inside me will cry, and my eyes would probably melt too.

actually, i’m watching this because there aren’t any other slice of life shows airing right now. K-on’s always good for half an hour of calm/relaxation/general laughs/ogling(damn it stark, you’re influencing my choice of words!)

i strongly agree, but a little plot doesn’t hurt.

Problem is, K-On is slice-of-life, yet it feels so …lacking. It feels like there is an urgent , if not necessary need for plot, or every episode feels like “filler”, yet you know it is supposed to be like that…

I don’t really know how to describe this….

Every episode is a filler =.=” . When was the last time they touched on the Azunyan being lonely thing. That seems to be the only plot link in between episodes

    Moe-verload…I like that!
I also feel that this is going to be just a series of fillers.

I think the only way to truly love it is to pretend it’s psychological and full of hidden meanings.

K-ON is just K-ON. The iconic cast of characters doing random stuff.
