Baka to Test to Shokanjuu – impressions up till now

He’s the dumbest person I know in the universe!

Spare me, Master Hand!

It’s had its highs and lows up till now, but Baka still proves that it has the comedic guts to be one of the more entertaining series this season.

Super Saiyan Himeji~

Plotwise, Baka is pretty poor. The three main characters are very clichéd and get boring. However the secondary characters like Voyeur and  Hideyoshi bring much needed light to the series. In fact it’s probably because of these characters that Baka has maintained a pretty strong popularity. It’s annoying how the series shows signs of developing a greater overall plot, with the addition of the bracelet, but they never actually give enough depth and screen-time to it.

That's some weird sh!t going on~

References to other anime series are fantastic and well-placed. We’ve had numerous references to Gundam and Evangelion, and each of them is great to watch and understand.

Wow Voyeur actually DOES look like Lelouch

As I’ve mentioned before, Baka stands out in its pure ridiculousness. A lot of it is over-the-top in a humourous way, and the in-jokes such as Shouko’s extreme clinginess surprisingly don’t get old. Fanservice isn’t just served for pleasure but acts as a point of humour itself.

They have quite some NERV to parody Instrumentality

With only 4 more episodes to go, I think Baka will maintain it’s steam and conclude as one of the funniest series this year. It’s a shame that such a series will only comprise of 13 episodes in total, but I have a feeling a second season is a strong possibility…

Where are my 1-up mushrooms when I need them...

Baka Test is just full of parodies and humor that I find it highly entertaining to watch. As you have said, it could develop a deeper plot but chooses not to. Nevertheless, I like it!

It’s light hearted fun. The paradies are done very well and the animation is well done.
