Metro 2033 Journey to The Unknown trailer impressions

Man continues to destroy man. Even the apocalypse couldn’t put a stop to that.

Ghouls - they're coming to get you.

Beware of the shadows.

In 2013, the world as we knew it was engulfed in nuclear shenanigans, leading to your usual apocalypse. Survivors in Moscow took refuge underground, forming rag-tag communities. 20 years later an event causes the player Artyom to venture into the heart of the metro system, where he must face not only rogue human survivors, but mutated rats and bats.

When in doubt, take it out.

Metro 2033, unsurprisingly, reminds me of other post-apocalyptic games such as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Fallout 3. It’s a solid concept that is guaranteed at least some sort of popularity. Like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Metro 2033 will belong to the survival, horror genre.

He so dead.

Unlike many other games, Metro 2033 will essentially not use a HUD system. Instead, the amount of blood splatter on your gas mask will determine your damage taken. In addition, the weapons used will mostly be makeshift, suggesting some sort of customisation. Like in all survival horror fps’s, ammo will be scarce, so use it wisely!

That's some nice splatter going on!

Metro 2033 looks like a cool game, but the problem is that it does not show anything new, nor does it contribute more to its genre(s). However it’s a good thing that the player will seemingly NOT have any imber supernatural powers that fry, freeze or electrocute mutants and freaks. Metro 2033 will be released in the latter half of this year for the XBox 360 and PC.

Contrary to popular belief, those are actually its ears. Honest.
